DRY CLEANING

Drycleaning is a process that cleans the clothes without water. In fact drycleaning isn't really dry. The clothes do get wet, but not with water. The fact that there is no water is why the process is called "drycleaning". The cleaning fluid that is used is a liquid solvent and all garments are immersed and cleaned in the solvent.

Early dry cleaners used a variety of solvents, but now Perchloroethylene (Perc) became the overwhelming solvent of choice for the drycleaning industry, internationally. But unfortunately in India it remained as it was. In our country the age-old formula of using M.T.O. (commonly known as white-petrol) is still being used. We, at SUNSHINE DRYCLEANERS, decided in 2002 to give Drycleaning a new face by introducing the latest in drycleaning technology and the solvent of international choice - Perc.

Drycleaning removes oils that cannot be removed in washing, lessens shrinkage and stretching, and helps preserve the original color of most garments.

Laundry is a process where the garments are washed cleaned with water using specialized Laundry chemicals and detergents. It is a total wet process.

Laundry process:
After you have dropped your valuable garments at our collection center, they are transferred to the central Laundry. Your valuable garments then go thru the following stages.

1. Marking and Inspection: After being received at the central Laundry, all the garments are marked with special tags that adheres firmly, yet can be removed easily without damaging your valued garment, so that they don't get mixed up with everyone else's. Your delicate garment is then inspected for stains, loose buttons or beads and open seams.

2. Mending: All repairs such as missing or broken buttons, loose buttons or beads, open seams or hems are tended to, before the cleaning process.

3. Pre-treating the stains: Your delicate garment is pre-treated for stain removal. This process involves removal of the stain or trying to make it's removal easier by using special cleaning agents. One of two methods is used to remove stains. If the stain had water in it, a wet side chemical is used. For stains that are considered dry (grease, oil based paint, tar or nail polish) a dry side chemical or cleaning agent is needed.

4. Sorting: Sorting is one of the most important steps in Drycleaning. Your clothes are sorted into suitable wash loads and special care items; the "like colors", non-colorfast items, similar fabrics are treated in separate loads.

5. Washing: At Sunshine Drycleaners your valuable garments are washed in the latest state-of-the art imported professional machines, designated to give superior wash with minimum friction to your clothes.Washing is divided into three elementary operations:

7. Post spotting: At sunshine drycleaners post-cleaning spot remover is another part of quality control process. Our working experts examine your clothes after cleaning is complete to see if any stains remain. If they do, the workers try to get them out by post spotting. Here, for post spotting, our people use professional equipment and chemical preparation using steam, water, air and vacuum.

8. Finishing: This stage of Laundry operations includes finishing, pressing, steaming, ironing, and making any necessary repairs to restore the garment. Once the clothes are cleaned, they are pressed or "finished". The steps in this process include
- Applying steam to soften the garment
- Re-shaping it through quick drying
- Removing the steam with air or vacuum
- Applying pressure to the garment.
